Day 02 Bhopal (Excursion to Bhimbetka Caves & Bhojpur temple) |
After breakfast check out from your hotel and drive to Bhopal enroute visiting Bhojpur temple & Bhimbetka caves. |
Bhimbetka Caves: Bhimbetka Caves: Bhimbetka caves exhibit the ancient art and rock-cut architecture of our country. It is one of the perfect places for art admirers. The Bhimbetka caves were declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003. |
According to Hindu Mythology, the name of the cave is associated with ‘Bhima’, one of the Pandavas of Mahabharata. Further, it is believed that Bhimbetka cave was the place where Bhima and his brothers rested after being exiled from the kingdom. The cave is home to a huge impressive collection of paintings and ancient artifacts. The intricate paintings on the walls familiarize you with the concept of ancient art and modern art, which are beyond comparison. One can see paintings of seven different eras. |
Visit Bhojpur: Founded by the legendary Paramara king of Dhar Raja Bhoja (1010-53 A.D) has remains of its magnificent Shivatemple and cyclopean dam. Raja (King) Bhoja was, an engineer, a warrior, a great administrator and a man of formidable vision. Bhojeshwar Temple also known as Somnath of the East is a beautifully carved and exceptionally welldesigned temple of Bhojpur, Madhya Pradesh. The temple, still incomplete is not incomplete in beauty and magnificence. The Bhojeshwar Temple is an ideal example of craftsmanship in the 12th century. |
Bhojeshwar Temple is divided into three sections. The exterior has a dimension of 66 feet. The intricately carved dome which too is incomplete is supported by four richly decorated pillars. The simple doorway has two beautifully carved figurines on both the sides. The balconies surrounding the structure are supported by designed brackets and decorated pillars. The sanctum of the temple houses the lingum which is 7 feet tall and 17.8 feet broad. The lingum is placed on a platform with limestone blocks on either side. Day 03 Bhopal to Khajuraho by road via visiting Sanchi en route (380 kms & 8 Hrs drive approx.) |
Morning after breakfast, drive to Khajuraho en route visiting Sanchi Stupa. |
Sanchi Stupa: One of the famous Bhuddhist shrines, Sanchi Stupa is known for its ancient art and architecture. It is located at the town of Sanchi in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh and is one of the popular tourist attractions. It was Emperor Ashoka who commissioned the design of Sanchi Stupa in Madhya Pradesh in the 3rd century B.C. The beautiful Stupa is surrounded by toranas which reflect love, peace, trust and courage. The central chamber of Stupa is made up of large hemispherical domes, which comprise of different relics of Lord Buddha. It is one of the well-preserved ancient stupas in central India and is ranked among the world Heritage sites. |
After visits straight drive to Khajuraho. Arrive Khajuraho & transfer to hotel. Overnight Khajuraho |
Day 04: Khajuraho to Orchha by road (175 Kms. & 4 Hours approx. |
Morning after breakfast proceed for the local city tour of Khajuraho. |
Khajuraho Group of temples: Khajuraho temples are declared World Heritage Sites. The intricate work on the sculptures and the stunning architecture are beyond description. The erotic cravings are incredible. It might be of interest to know the reasons behind carving such erotic sculptures on the temple walls. The sculptures that display life and its pleasures are meant to educate boys who were away from home to hermitage to pursue their studies and remained celibate. |

Day 05 : Orchha to Gwalior by road (150 Kms & 3 hrs drive approx. |
Today after breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed for the local city tour of Orchha including Jehangir Mahal, Raja Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Chaturbhuj temple, Chattris, enjoy evening sunset at Chattris |
After visit continue drive to Gwalior. Arrive Gwalior & transfer to hotel. Overnight Gwalior |
Day 06: Departure Gwalior |
Morning after breakfast proceed to visit The Gwalior fort including Man Mandir Palace, Teli Ka Mndir, Saas Bahu temple. |
Later in time transfer to railway airport to board flight for onward journey. |
